DERBY COUNTY LFC AGAINST BLACKBURN ROVERS LFC - THE STATS
Since Derby County Ladies Football Club were established in 1990, we have had one particular team above all others that have for the most part given us one hell of a game: Blackburn Rovers.
We have been playing Rovers now since the 2011-2012 season when they were promoted to the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division, as it then was. Before that we had never met them in the league, (or cup for that matter), as Derby played in the Midland Women's Combination League, until they too were promoted as Champions to the FA WPLND beginning 2009-2010.
We've had some real encounters with this lot over the last seven and a half seasons, so we thought we'd bring you the stats, and they make for interesting reading...
Derby scored in 10 of the 15 matches with a mean average of 1.33 goals per game. This however converts to Blackburn scoring 3.06 goals per game over the entirety of the play between the two clubs.
The games aforementioned are as follows:
In the last 10 seasons Derby County have played 16 matches producing 157 goals, with Derby scoring 128 of them. A mean average of 15.7 goals per game overall with Derby scoring a mean average of 12.8 goals per game.

From the results shown above, the 'next match' results are interesting. They reveal that of the 16 high scoring games that Derby County have experienced over the last 10 seasons, when we won, we lost the next match. When we lost we won the next match. That is except on four occasions when we won twice against Blackburn Rovers of all teams, and beat Newcastle and huddersfield once apiece. So out of 16 matches producing high scoring wins or losses of 7 goals or more for that team, 12 matches (75%), have consistently produced the exact opposite result the following game. Call stats stats, but stats don't lie, and the stats show that three quarters the time, Derby County have lost their next match when they have hit the extreme high, and won their next match when they have sunk to an extreme low.
Our prediction for the next match against Sunderland away therefore has to be a 1-2 win to Derby County, like it or lump it... it's happening!
Come on Ewe Rams...
